Photo Friday: Time Machine. To honor the sixth anniversary of Photo Friday, post the photo you took closest to six years ago to the time of your post. Alternatively, post a photo embodying the idea of a time machine.

In February 2006 I was living in Fairbanks where the winters are super cold yet super gorgeous with the blue skies and hoarfrost. Plus there's Ice Alaska - the international ice carving championship.

In Feb 2006 I hadn't got into photography in any big way, and so this was taken on my old 1.6MP Sony Cybershot.

I don't have any photos that age, so here's a time machine: the Greenwich Time Ball, which drops at 13:00 every day so all the ships docked on the Thames at Greenwich can synchronize their clocks.

It looks like my closest photo is some book thongs I crocheted in early Mar 2006. I wonder where I stuck those ....

Nothing between December 2005 and April 2006, for some reason. This one of Daughter seems to be closest.

Why can't I inline my pictures?

Fittingly enough, the picture I took on February 22, 2006, was more or less for Mecha & is titled OMG Bunnies.

But I kind of like these two, from February 19, better.

Still have the dog, still have the coffee table, the bookshelf, the paintings, the bowls but the couch and the rug are long since history.

I really should get back into knitting. I'm so good at it. All my friends and family deserve to own one of my hats. *cackles evilly*

In early 2006, the house I was living in with two other guys in East Dallas was broken into during the day when nobody was home. Among the items pilfered (including a TV, my laptop, and a bunch of booze) was my digital camera, so the only stuff I have from Feb. of 2006 are rudimentary phonecam pics. Closest date I could find was Feb 21, this picture of a Llewellyn Spaniel puppy I'd recently acquired as a client:

About six years ago I was doing bunny stuff for metachat:

Strange to think it was six years ago.

Grr. It will show up in preview but won't post.
I bet I have to add them all by hand.

I'm impressed that everyone can come up with such killer photos for an arbitrary date.

My closest photo (2/22/2006) would be this one of the house:

I took this one a bit earlier that morning. It was an unfortunate victim of photoshop experimentation, though I still like it.

Um, uh... This is what I posted six years ago, heh:

Tigger actor acquitted of fondling teen

Jury takes less than an hour to decide case of Disney World worker
The Associated Press
Updated: 7:12 p.m. ET Aug. 4, 2004

ORLANDO, Fla. - A Walt Disney World worker who portrayed the character Tigger was acquitted Wednesday of charges he fondled a 13-year-old girl while posing for a photo with the teen and her mother.

Attorney Jeff Kaufmann, right, wears a Tigger costume
for his final arguments in the trial of Michael Chartrand...
Full story here.

Christopher Robin also came to Tigger's defence, saying the tiger was a bit randy ("It's all part of being 'bouncy bouncy bouncy'...") but never did anything more improprietous than goosing Robin's housecat Mrs Wiggles. However, in related news, Calvin's arch-nemesis Suzie is accusing Hobbes and Tony the Tiger of improper advances in a hotel the characters stayed at for a Children's Favorite Animals convention last Spring. "It was like the U.S. Navy Tailhook Scandal," Suzie said on an episode of the Jerry Springer show, "I had to run through a gauntlet of fuzzy animals to get to my room, and they were all pawing me, just ... pawing me ... with their paws ... " she said, breaking down in tears in Springer's arms. "The whole time I was screaming, 'I'm not a furry! I'm not into this! Leave me alone!'"

Hobbes denies all allegations on the basis of "Are you kidding? I don't want her cooties!" while Tony would only make the cryptic comment "Theeeeeey're greeeeeat!"

Calvin told reporters "Suzie is just still pissed off because of the bag of dogpoo Hobbes and I set fire to on her porch. Can you believe she stomped out the flames? Whatta moron."

Tigers the world over (including Simba and Kimba) are banding together to fight what they see as a smear campaign against their kind, like this photo originally presented as evidence against Tigger:

The image turned out to be a crude photoshopping of two photo's found on the Internet, cobbled together by a weblogger and writer named Shane.

Shane could not be reached for comment, but his spokesperson Widget the Kitty told reporters "Get over it. It was just a joke. He's a total cat-lover. And the man has no time for conspiracies, he's always cleaning out five litter boxes. Besides, he's just not that smart."
