Guinness the cat update! For those keeping up w/ our newly 3-footed feline.
→[More:] We took Guinness to the vet this morning to have his stitches out! He was unhappy about the trip, but glad we got back to the house so fast. (He ran under the couch and was still there when I left for work, but A. is home with him all day.)
We'd been a little worried about him over the weekend... a couple of times he had these little freakouts where he'd start rolling over or hopping in a circle backwards, sometimes meowing. We were afraid it was some kind of pain happening. It happened at the vet, and she said he's just losing his balance (it happens after he's been lying down for a long time, or as it happens, been cooped up in the cat carrier) and that it's nothing to worry about. He'll get more practiced as he adjusts to life on 3 legs.
We'd also found what we thought was a scratch on his flank that he'd picked up on Friday, but that turns out to be what's left from a burn he sustained in the initial accident, and that neither we nor the vets saw before. It's already on the way to healing, so no worries there. Whew!
Overall the vet said he looked "really great" and that he doesn't need to come back until spring for his vaccinations. ALL of us will be happy not to have to make that trip for a while. :)
