Led by the child who simply knew: a story about an amazing family in Maine and their twin children, one of whom is transgender.
Great story. What brave, strong parents they have.

Only thing that bugs me is that Nicole is so embracing her new role as a girl that she's embracing the very stereotypes that we're all supposed to ignore. It's ok for boys to play with dolls, right? I'm a girl, and I could care less about makeup and a new purse every year. I would never have grabbed my father's hand and swung happily. Oh well--despite that, I'm glad that she's finally a happy person, and that her parents did the right thing in supporting her and moving to a better school district.

hmm i'm not sure about my views on this in a platonic sense. but i guess with the gendered societ(y/ies) we have if someone feels in the 'wrong gender' in a deep way i guess this is the only thing to do

Tough kid.

I'm a girl, and I could care less about makeup and a new purse every year. I would never have grabbed my father's hand and swung happily.

But you probably could have been like that if you wanted... without getting run out of town.
