The cornball wholesome fun post in which we share songs that do what it says on the tin

I'll start this off with . . . [More:]

The Spinners -- Rubberband Man
Patrick Hernandez - Born to Be Alive (can it be more obvious?) also notable for its low-effort official video with some of the worst lip-synching I've ever seen. (It makes the "Hitler Version" a little more excusable)

If I get the concept right, here are three

the Chills - Heavenly Pop Hit - although it wasn't actually a hit (but it should have been!)

Meat Puppets - The Whistling Song - could use a bit more whistling, but I think it still fits the bill

Randy Newman - The Story of a Rock & Roll Band - ELO is a rock band, and it's a story about them, so...

Do Ya ELO on the Midnight Special.

I`m Too Sexy.

oneswellfoop - you have NO idea how much you've made my day. I first heard that song when it came out, in 1972 when it was a Eurovision song, and every few months it'll come into my head and I've always wondered "who sang that song?". Looking on Eurovision Song Contest websites was of no help, given the thousands of songs and performers on there, but that little melody was buried in my brain and would surface to torture me every now and then.

Now I know - Mouth and MacNeal.

This thread is so wonderful.

Leo Sayer- "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" (bonus: Muppet Show performance)
Eddie Rabbit- "I Love A Rainy Night"
Melissa Manchester- "You Should Hear How She Talks About You" (bonus: the Solid Gold dancers!)

...and since Ardiril is on the road, I'll post one I'm sure he would have shared (that I love, too): Popcorn

Obligatory ABBA tune -- Does Your Mother Know? I love "live" performances where there isn't even any pretense of it being live.

Alright, I misunderstood the concept. I focused on the "songs that do what it says on the tin" part and thought it was songs about themselves. Now I see the emphasis is on the "cornball wholesome fun post". Which makes my choice of a mean Randy Newman seem totally weird. Let me try again.

Here's a goofy fun bubblegum pop song from the Equals (featuring Eddie Grant a decade before "Electric Avenue")- "Michael And The Slipper Tree"

If you want wholesome and cornball the Brady Kids singing "Sunshine Day" is pretty much ground zero.

Dodgy - Staying Out for the Summer - this song always puts a smile on my face

Sweet's "Wig Wam Bam"

One of my favorite goofy fun songs ever - Falco - The Sound of Musik - with an even goofier video.

Fleshtones have a never ending supply of fun songs - but at the moment this one seems right: "Right Side Of A Good Thing"

And for my money "Our House" by Madness is one of the most fun songs ever.

Some Gorillaz.

A couple of scenes from the Great Men's Shirt Shortage of the late 80's and early 90s.

And my cornball? It goes to 11.
