"You're alive! ... but not for long. The heat from the blast has caused head to toe second degree burns. You'll probably die within the coming weeks from radiation sickness."
(in NH)
"Alive! but do you want to be? You live in the middle of no where or are lucky. The planet isn't looking good though. Get ready for some great skiing in the incoming nuclear winter!"
Why in the blazes would they waste a warhead on my little burg? But apparently I am instantly vaporized, which, if one's time is up, would not be a bad way to go.
I'm surprised they would bother to nuke anywhere near me, but evidently I would be covered in third degree burns and dead within a day.
I highly doubt they would nuke my state, much less the country I live in. That's one of the major bennies of living in South America, who the hell in the rest of the world has a beef with you? Sure, we rumble with Colombia over drugs coming across the borders, but who in their right mind is gonna nuke us, and why?!
That's it, I'm moving to Tierra del Fuego.

The joy of being near military installations ....
But if I go join my relatives in Delaware, I get to survive. Hmmmm ...
That's why I moved here - along the coast midway 'tween SF and LA is as safe as you're gonna get in California (and still have it worth living BEFORE they drop the bombs). But I question the site's dependence on 'centers of population'. It has whomever bombing Bakersfield and I have to ask "why bother?". There was a previous map in a magazine years ago that showed targets based on military significance. Vandenberg Air Force Base is less than 50 miles south of here, and that's where I'd expect the nuclear wind to come from.
I learned the way to survive back in elementary school: duck and cover. Course they made desks out of actual wood back then so they provided superior protection. Well, it's worked so far....
Apparently, even if the Reds drop Tsar Bombas on Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Louisville, Dayton and Cincinnati (the five closest cities with at least 100k population), I'll survive. Muncie truly is as close to the middle of nowhere one can get without moving to Montana.
I've been to Muncie. Someone I know wrote a song about the place, I wish we had recorded it, you would have liked it. They do have a branch of SSDP and a mention in the Hudsucker Proxy, so there's that.

One of my long-time daydreams has been to imagine surviving some kind of global disaster that wipes out most of the human race. I've always thought that this would be my time to shine, so this outcome works for me ;-)
