Shooting "The Prisoner": a fantastic set of behind-the-scenes photos from the classic 1960s TV series.
Portmeirion is really a beautiful place. When I walked on the beach I kept looking round for the big white balloon.

That is a great set of pics. They reminded me of how large a role the village mob played.

I need to give that show another chance.

I loved/love that show so much I was delighted to see my first MeFi member number was 2-0-SIX.

I recommend anyone who already likes or is considering watching The Prisoner check out its prequel, Danger Man aka Secret Agent). It's my favorite TV series ever.

I lucked into Danger Man when I first moved to Atlanta back in '88. Pretty good stuff for that era of British TV.

I used to frequent the BBC America forum before they shut it down a long time ago. On those forums I had an internet friend who is a huge Prisoner fan and went to Portmeirion every year for The Prisoner convention. I think she even wrote a book on Portmeiron and The Prisoner, if I recall.

That is too cool, Lori... if you happen to know what book it is, let me know.

Yeah, I know, the rest of your afternoon is now shot to hell.

That what-is-really-going-on miasma of the show's content is so pervasive that I can't help but look at those pictures and think "wait, which was the episode where they convinced Number 6 that he was actually the producer of a show about The Village?"

Such a wonderful chunk of unlikely TV history, that.
