Is there a greater pleasure than watching your kid fall in love with your own favorite books?[More:]

OK, I totally support my kid having her own interests in life and she already likes plenty of stuff (including books) that I dislike or have no interest in, BUT, listening to her hysterical laughter at The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death, a book I read about 20 times as a kid, is pretty sweet.

I introduced my daughter to PJ Harvey too early. She hated PJ Harvey. Now, though, as an adult, she has a huge sexy PJ poster above her bed.

I feel very good about this.

My son doesn't read books, watch TV or movies so there's not much that we can have in common. He used to read a lot as a kid, even stuff as tough as Cryptonomicon and Dune but gave up in high-school and I don't think that he's read a novel in years that wasn't assigned. I also doubt that he's watched a hundred hours of TV in his whole twenty-two years of life, even as a little kid I could never interest him in it. His girl friend drags him to movie but that's the only way that he'll go (or even watch them on video).

We don't have much in common musically either, I'm more of an alt-country listener and he's into '70s prog rock and metal.
