What are you looking forward to? [More:]I've started a little page for myself with countdown tickers to all the things I'm looking forward to in the next few months. Just a sample:

In a week, I go to the beach!
In 1 month, 1 week, and 5 days, I move to a new apartment near work (that we will start looking for after we return from the beach).
In 2 months, 4 weeks, we will go to Yellowstone with Stynxno's family (and then VEGAS by ourselves- Vegas really deserves a ticker all its own).
In 3 months, 1 week, and 6 days, we will go on the church's young adult retreat (although you've heard me mention before I dread it a little).
In 3 months, 4 weeks, my friend Erica gets married.

What are you looking forward to? Perhaps you'd like to create a ticker of your own?
Two weeks in England.

Today, retirement.

My birthday!

The following weekend, I'm going to A.C. with my sweetie to see Hall & Oates.

Those are pretty awesome.

1. Leaving at 1:00 this afternoon for anniversary weekend in Ashland. . .seeing a play, and maybe this, and trying to find an old friend/roommate from 30 years ago who has worked as a seamstress for the Shakespeare Festival there, but I have never run into her.

2. My new 160 GB iPod gets here today. . .it will take a bit to set it up, and I'll probably leave it in the box until after the weekend.

3. Looking forward to good weather so I can bike more and perchance drop the few extra pounds I have put on over the Winter.

4. Janet. . .I retire in about a year and will get a bit more than what I make now, plus can work an extra 6 months after retiring, so double pay for that time. However, that represents Daughter's senior college tuition.

In a week, the beach!

In 3 weeks, Vermont!

In 6 weeks, my best friend is coming into town for 3 days. Haven't seen her for about a year and a half (she lives in Australia).

That's about it.

That sounds pretty good danf, in spite of the college tuition. I actually really shouldn't look forward to retirement because I will probably have no money and be eating cat food or something.

Having the whole weekend off!

Posing for pictures for my friend's Etsy vintage store!

Sea Music Festival in June!

Italy in July!

I am headed to Dublin, London and Paris with my sister this summer and I can hardly wait. I'm super glad she talked me into it. This spring has brought a spat of difficult health stuff and financial stuff and if I didn't have this trip to look forward to, I think I'm be pretty down right now.

I'm so excited! I need to clean the guest room for our housesitter. My partner will be here for part of my time, but is going roadtripping with a buddy for the other half so my awesome catsitter/housesitter will be staying here.

I'm using part of today to go buy a few thing I'll want for my trip (sunglasses, maybe a new purse, maybe a new backpack).

1. Piano bar tonight.

2. Theatre and dinner tomorrow.

3. Lamb shank with lentils for an early dinner in a minute.

1 more week until I have 2 weeks off of work. (Granted, my schedule is full of things to do during those 2 weeks, but still, 2 weeks off work.)

7 months until I finish school.

About a year until I go on my backpacking trip (hopefully).

Eventually having some discretionary income!

Getting a job, meeting my future in-laws, seeing my love again, getting married, building our life together; in the short term, going to the New York Botanic Gardens next week to check out a new exhibition inspired by the gardens of the Alhambra.

I'm pencilled in for a motorcycle trip out West this summer (Mr. Ant and I own a business so it's really hard for us to leave at the same time.) I'm hoping to ride my 650 dualsport to Colorado, put knobby tires on, ride around in the dirt in CO and UT for a week or two and ride home.
posted by workerant 20 May | 11:42
workerant, LUST.

(also, how do you like the 650GS? There was a recent thread about in on my motorcycling list; someone was looking for feedback. If you feel like writing up some thoughts, e-mail's in profile.)

Tulsa Tough (June 10-12), which has quickly become my favorite annual local event. It's a three day series of short-lapped cycling criterions and it's an absolutely fascinating event. If the weather is good, I'm hoping to make it for all three circuits this year. And it's free!

Also going to see the men's indoor volleyball match between the Brazilian and US national teams (June 25), which I'm very stoked for. I love watching volleyball during the Summer Olympics and I'm still fairly surprised that this event is coming to Tulsa. In fact, I just ordered my tickets.

Generally: I'm now officially 100% debt-free, so I can now really squirrel away money to either A) live off of while I'm in v-school or B) rebuild my life after the crushing soul-defeating disappointment of not getting in.

In nine days: a surprise party for my dad
In fifteen days: a wedding, and oh boy, do I love weddings.
In twenty-two days: road trip.
In 2 months and 10 days: moving into my new apartment, which has a dishwasher. I never thought I'd be so excited about a dishwasher.
In 3 months and 8 days: grad school.

I've never played competitively, danf, but always enjoyed playing during gym class and some pickup sand-volleyball games back in the day. It's definitely a sport I'd be interested in trying at a casual league level someday (I'm 6'3", so there would be some advantage there, though I'd certainly have to work on my vertical). I've always found the fast-paced elite teams a total blast to watch, though.

I am looking forward to my trip to St. Petersburg (unfortunately not the Russian one).

The last day of school for my kids is next Friday. I'm looking forward to a relaxing summer.

The beach. Kayaking. Eating dinner on the porch. Sleeping in.

I am keeping my head down and quiet until September, when we leave for the southern hemisphere and the big adventure begins. Before that, all I want is peace and quiet. Maybe a trip to the beach or two. Other than that, no alarms and no surprises, please.

Summer. Sweet, sweet summer. 10 weeks off, done with miserable "professional development" coursework that's stressing me out so, time to write, time to breathe, the beach, sleep. Right now it's too cruel to think about.
