Good Cary Tennis column today. I am exactly this person. But his advice seems to be like everyone else's: seek therapy.
Have you tried it?

Yes, indeed.

Did you find it useful? Or no?

That's not all he says. He says a lot of things in addition to that.

However, if therapy didn't work, try it with someone else. Finding a therapist is about finding a (certain kind of) relationship and thus can illuminate the common problems in being in one.

Actually the therapy did work, at the time. I learned, hey! I'm a good person! There's nothing wrong with me! (Ok, now where are the guys?) The slog gets awfully tiring sometimes, however, and I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in this regard.

I got married AND had a baby at 44. It all happened very fast. You just never know what might be around the corner ..

That said, I miss my single days sometimes.

I saw that (I'm that woman only five years younger) and I read the letters thread. Some are the usual Salonista troll/blowhard garbage, but quite a few are very helpful. So I'd suggest you take a look at them.
