Cat catches bat. After all, it's just a flying mouse.
Cats amaze me. They can spend 99% of their time lounging around in the sun with all 4 paws in the air, with that blinky "Rrrrr. I ARE SITTIN' IN DER SUN" face going on. Then they do something like this.

Or in the case of my cats, their little play-fight turns into a crazy chase around the house, with complex vertical maneuvers and spatial awareness that would put a fighter pilot to shame.

Every so often they remind you that yes, they really did evolve to catch and eat small creatures that run and fly and move unpredictably.

What is it about not caring what they hit on landing? Sunny would launch himself into these huge leaps to catch a ball only to land by banging his ass end on some piece of furniture. Never failed. Never saw that it phased him either.

Hmm, the short story The Game of Rat and Dragon by Cordwainer Smith has full text online at Project Gutenberg.

Pinlighting is getting better all the time. The Partners are getting better. I've seen them pinlight two Rats forty-six million miles apart in one and a half milliseconds.
