Urgent call to ThePinkSuperhero Pinks! Help!
[More:]
Some good friends of mine from the greater British Commonwealth have recently outed themselves as royalists. They have expressed a great desire to watch the wedding tomorrow...at my house. Neither has the appropriate television for viewing (Aussies, go figure). We are prepared to get up and get going at 4 am to watch the goings-on, but what channel? Who is carrying the wedding here in the States? I know you know, because you already said you are watching it. Help!
I am not TPS but I am taping BBC America's broadcast of it.
But NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS will also be broadcasting. Fox won't have a live stream.
I chose BBC because of the promise of continuous British accents throughout the day.

Oh and TLC but that seems like it would be crazy annoying.

There are so many events going on here in the British pubs. I *really* want to go, but I can't justify spending over $50 on breakfast and champagne at 5am in the morning. But I *really* want to.

BBC America here, for the recording of said event.

BBC America it is! Thanks, everybody. I didn't realize so many people were planning on tuning in.

Gaspode a Monarchist. . .who knew?

naaah, I just like looking at what everyone's wearing.

Me too, gaspode. I am having some girls over on Sat for tea sandwiches and champagne and viewing. Should be fun.

I'm watching too. I have clotted cream, strawberry jam and biscuits as ersatz scones. Tea will be drunk in copious amounts. The mister has no idea what he's in for.

Is it streaming somewhere? (You know, just in case I can't sleep . . . .)

NBC is carrying it, with reallllly annoying coverage. It's a fab show; that's the only point to the monarchy, isn't it? their drama? I'm @ 12 time zones away, but will watch what I can. wish I had BBCAmerica.

I think PBS is showing it too, if you want to feel like it's educational.

I'm not planning on watching, but if anyone wants to bring scones over...

Here I am. Everyone seems to have handled it! I don't think we've even decided what channel we will be watching on- I asked Mom and she wasn't sure. Hopefully BBC America or some other relatively un-annoying option. Anchors with accents preferred! I'll do a post here while I'm watching :)

OH, and YouTube will be streaming the wedding as well!

So. . .not that I would care to watch. . .but is it after midnight tonight (tomorrow morning) or Saturday morning in the colonies?
posted by danf 28 April | 16:12
Tomorrow morning! We will be up around 4:30 or so. Ceremony at 6 am ET.

Watching TLCs repeat of Charles and Diana's wedding right now. Definitely gonna have to squeeze in a nap sometime this afternoon or evening.
posted by deborah 28 April | 16:25
Yay now we are watching it, too! And my Mom is pulling out her Diana and Charles china. They got married that same year, my parents.

*also shakes head in disbelief* Gawd save us. I'm going round to a local (American) Mefite's house tomorrow, and thankfully she doesn't have a TV. There's something like 8 hours of coverage.

There's something like 8 hours of coverage. - ... and this is the Protestant version.

Please excuse me for what may be seen by some as a threadshit. But what is the fascination with this? I mean as someone in the USA I think this is just annoying noise. I am sorry if I insulted anyone. But really?
posted by Splunge 28 April | 21:27
Splunge: that really is a good question. I remember as a little girl (6-7 years-old or so) reading about England and how it had a queen, royal family, history. I was instantly fascinated. I was 14 when I watched Charles and Diana get married (I asked for permission, of course, and it was given; thank the gods it wasn't a weeknight). The fascination (although I'm not sure that's still the right word) continues. It's all so different than life in the US or even Canada (where I live now). Perhaps it's a bit of glamour in a mundane world?
posted by deborah 28 April | 21:41
A little glamour, indeed! A bit of fun, a bit of happy news, a bit of 4 a.m. fun with Mom! Woohoo! See you in 5 hours :D

One of the most mind-boggling headlines I've ever seen:

"Royal wedding wishes from space station"

We ended up watching on CNN so we could see in HD. So pretty!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 29 April | 06:29
Oh lucky you. Guess when we're getting our HDTV box? Later this morning. Timing is everything.
