I think the basic problem is that these services fragment your privacy settings in such a way (what do you want to display to a logged out user? a logged in user? what about your pic, your other pics, your friends? what about this info or that?) that there's no "holy **** just batten down the hatches on every front for a couple weeks" button

lol I don't underestimate them. But yeah it does seem like their power to screw with people's lives is limited to other kids' lives i.e. it's hard to mess with a grown man's life just cause you have his info. Still though I've seen some crazy stuff go down especially in terms of people being mocked and splattered all over the web with their real name etc. and so I'm just gonna try to mollify them and lay low for a while until they get bored.

Firas, I've had someone on fucking Twitter pretending to be me and acting like a dick for over two years. the sites won't do shit to help you. Online harassment is generally the province of the stupid and the chickenshit.

Miko, definitely dramatic. I felt sick and had my heart racing for hours when they first got hold of my info and were dancing about with it like hyenas. They're still threatening a lot of stuff, sigh, I think I'm just gonna call their bluff and let them do whatever they're gonna. It's not like I can get fired or anything, I work for myself, and if they can't affect that what can they affect? Not much.

Anyway this reminds me to stay in one's lane, lol. You can't be public with your real name all across the interwebs and open up a segment where you're anonymously beefing with these people for fun on the side. It's the same reason I don't escalate street situations cause if something goes wrong I'd end up in the ICU, not my forte, gotta play to your strengths etc.

It also reminds me that when things break down in the end that your friends/social connections are the only things that matter, I had someone friendly with the ... hard to predict/not always objective .. admin on there message them for me and the admin is keeping my info off the site and wielding the banhammer liberally

Yes the situation has blown over. I'm probably going to bring my site back up in a couple days and unlock my Twitter in a week or so etc. I basically normalized relations with some of them, let the others get marginalized/bored about the idea of harassing me, and then decided not to worry about it. I'm gonna chalk this down as another Win in my life. lol. I'm definitely gonna retire from using my real name so liberally online though, some stuff is best not findable within seconds of an antagonist searching it out.
