What do you call the part of the hand that is not the fingers? Not the palm nor the back, but:
palm + back - fingers = ???
A hand without fingers is still a hand.

I call it tasty.

I'd probably call it the body of the hand if I had to describe it to convey meaning. With flair I'd probably call it a "mitt".

I was going to give a short snarky useless answer but I forgot, sorry.

What Eide said.

Also, I just looked at the Wikipedia article on hands and it doesn't show a separate name for the non-digit portion of a hand except for palmar (palm) and dorsal (back). The bones in that section are the metacarpals. Perhaps you could call it the "metacarpal area"? Unless, of course, you're looking for an "official" name.

On preview: mitt might work, but that word makes me think of the whole hand.

I don't know what you call that part of a hand. However the plastic bit on the end of a shoelace, that keeps it from unraveling, and makes it easier to poke it through the holes, is called an "aglet".

The meat.

'Metacarpus', apparently, although that suggests you're talking about the bones, plus I don't if anyone normal would know what you're talking about.

"... plus I don't if anyone normal would know what you're talking about."

That's why I asked here. ;-P

Maybe "the flat of the hand"? Though maybe that suggests the palm more than the whole.

The heel of the hand? The knuckles?
