I just discovered that "The Joy of Painting" is still being rerun on PBS. This is rather amazing to me. That is all.
I saw Bob Ross today as I walked to the barber shop. He lives about 2 blocks from me. Or at least a young doppelgänger Bob does. I was wondering if the show was still around.
The Joy of Painting is what I watch when I need to cool down, because there's no way you can stay mad through a whole Joy of Painting. Bob is so soothing.
I catch this every now and again when I'm working from home. I find it very restful to have on in the background while I'm working on something difficult.
Yes, he's been dead for 15 years. Which is part of the reason why I'm a little bewildered that it's still being shown on TV. (The haircut is part of the reason, too.)
It's still being shown on tv because it doesn't cost very much to show it. The same reason my PBS station shows a "classic film" every Saturday night, all of them, interestingly, out of copyright.
That IS amazing. I understand it's cheap to show, but wow, of all the things in the archive, that is a surprising choice. How about some Rick Steves or something instead?
