Another Kitty Update So little miss Ripley (previously 1, previously 2) rejoined the feral colony today after one last application of eye meds. She's been in a crate for four weeks, recovering from a bite to the head that left two face punctures and an eye puncture.[More:]

As of this morning, the eye still doesn't look normal, but it's a lot closer! We didn't know if it would ever be this good again; when the eye was opened back up after two weeks, it was opaque and milky, with a bulge where it was punctured. The bulge is gone, it's getting translucent and yellow, and she can see out of it at least a little. You can even tell there's a pupil under there. We are quite glad it's improved so much.

After a month in solitary confinement, she probably never wants to see us again. But she's fat and out of shape from being locked up, and her eye is probably playing tricks on her. So she's not likely to be able to feed herself by hunting; we are pretty sure she'll show up sometime in the next few days looking for kibble. I'm sure her family will be happy to see her again.
*paints self with woad (again)*

FREEDOM!!

Seriously, it will be interesting to find out how well Ripley re-integrates back into the colony and if she'll still be friendly with you.

Thank you for taking care of Ripley. We have a catch, neuter, release thing in our town for cats that is wonderful. I wish I could just adopt her right now.

:)

The cats often show up at "bed check," when I check on the ponies just before going to bed (midnight-ish). Last night Ripley was there, although with tail puffed up and not interested in being petted. She was moving carefully around the other cats, also, not yet back to family cuddles; ah well, it will come in time. Good to see her.

Yay Ripley! Thanks for taking care of her. We've got abut 6 ferals around here that are all fixed. Most of them we can pet, & they purr loudly & roll around on their backs.

I was guessing it'd be 4 days max before she showed back up demanding attention. I was a little off; she was there tonight, being noisy and demanding. I reached toward her, and she rubbed up against the hand--no skittishness, no pulling away. So hey.
