While searching for photos of cheese rinds (I blame jonathanstrange), I came across this Flickr stream where someone documents all of the family's trash: date, weight, and who it belonged to. I was a little concerned about the documenter at first (surely this is a sign of OCD or possibly hoarding?) but page after page of photos and I find all of them very comforting. I'm tempted to photo-document a day's worth of garbage, but I couldn't do it long term.
HEY! the tumblr was your idea... I just rolled with it.

But seriously... the world is a better place with a tumblr about cheese rinds.

That Flickr stream is bizarre. I read a post about a woman who discovered that her father had documented everything he'd eaten on index cards. Similar level of dedication. I always vaguely wish I had the self discipline to stick with something like that though.

Q Magazine used to do this fabulous column where they'd sort through a popular musician's trash and do a photo essay on their findings, with captions written by the artist to explain any interesting items. It was one of my favorite things to read every month...

I would have registered that tumblr myself had I not been in the kitchen.

You can learn a lot about someone's garbage… I wonder what mine says about me.

I suspect that trash is edited - where are the snotty tissues, condoms, tampon wrappers, etc.?

There was a case in the UK a few years ago where a crazy woman framed a man for rape by removing a used condom from his trash and smearing the gunk in her underwear.

In any week that I've gotten the trash to the curb on the right day, I feel pretty good. Apparently, I'm more slacker than OCD.

These people eat much more interesting food than I do.

I sometimes have the scary thought that everything I've ever owned, every toy, my first bike, every newspaper I ever read and every cereal box I've ever emptied is sitting in a landfill somewhere... Tnx for reminding me of that.... ;)

So what type of footwear would you wear || When science fiction becomes (pseudo-)science.
