update. so glad to see the end of 2010. →[More:]
Thank you for the kind wishes, good thoughts and prayers for my brother. I had planned to go out to LA Christmas Day to see him, but went out a few days early when he had a cancer-related stroke. He rebounded, but was weakening daily. He knew me, and we had a good talk. He came home from the hospital, and died at home, with his wife(of 24 days) and family nearby.

It's shocking because my Mom just died 3 years ago, and my brother is the 1st of my generation to die. We were close, and I will miss his support. He loved skiing on snow and water, reading, talking, and had become a passionate advocate for disabled veterans.

The funeral was deeply touching. I'm so glad I had the chance to be with him, and to be there to support his wife.

Oh, theora55, I'm so sorry. From everything you've said here and earlier, he must have found comfort in the support and love all around him. I'll be thinking of you and yours.

When you're settled in at home and ready for some in-person talking or not-talking, let me know. (We have flu in the house right now, but as soon as it's past, I'd love to lend an ear or a shoulder.)

I am so sorry and have been thinking about this since you mentioned it several weeks ago. I am glad he was able to pass peacefully at home among those he loved and who loved him. He sounds like a true friend as well as a sibling and I'm happy you had such a strong relationship.
