Hah, my 12 year old loves shipwrecks and aircraft carriers so he was very eager to watch 2012 because the trailer shows an aircraft carrier getting overturned. I was so aghast at the sloppy science that I spent the entire movie muttering (at home, we rented the DVD) about each misrepresentation until my SO pleaded with me to shut-up-you're-killing-the-buzz-already. But really, it was so stupid that I just couldn't contain myself until I decided the only possible way to get through it was to take a sip of wine during each error. I was very well plowed long before the credits rolled.

I'm a little disappointed 2001: A Space Odyssey didn't make the good list. Arthur C. Clarke's science fiction was so good, much of it, such as geosynchronous communications satellites, are now science fact.

Metropolis is a great movie. I'm glad it made it.

Yeah, I was bummed that 2001 wasn't on the list. I guess that the 7 good films were supposed to be "most realistic", not "best", but still.

A friend at NASA wrote me that NASA had no connection with this list. A reporter spoke to a scientist at JPL, and somehow a list materialized out of thin air.
