I just saw Louis CK! Driving around like real people! I just want to take a moment to thank Louis CK. Without his brand of comedy I could not have survived this past 6 months with my new daughter.
My husband loves Louis CK. I have not seen his latest show but we used to watch Lucky Louie on HBO.

Oh you have to watch it LoriFLA. It's so good. I mean, like, knock your socks off good.

Oooooh, lucky you. In NY?

Lucky, I love Louis CK. He did the funniest interview on Letterman ever.

Las Vegas actually. I wish he had been on foot. I would have liked to meet him. I think I'm really just excited because Vegas has been listed as one of the dummest cities in the States. It was nice to see someone smart in the city. Other than myself, of course.

I will definitely record it. Is his new show called Louie? If so, I can watch it with instant streaming on Netflix. I will watch it tonight with my husband after the kids are in bed.

I can't believe we haven't seen it yet. My sister gave me the synopsis and recommended it but I keep forgetting to watch. I can't keep up with all of the good shows. Right now I am only loyal to Bored to Death (this season has ended). I catch pieces and parts of Dexter and Boardwalk Empire since my husband watches these faithfully. Boardwalk Empire is over for this season, too. I cannot wait until Breaking Bad comes back. It is the best show ever.

I love Las Vegas. I was married there.

Thanks for the reminder, chemnimatrix.

Yes, Louie. I couldn't get into Boardwalk Empire, but mostly because I was stuck on The Wire when it started. I teach chemistry, so you can imagine my glee at Breaking Bad.

Where in Vegas were you married?

The Treasure Island. In 1998. It was great.

Ooh, I have been to a wedding at TI. Congratulations! Glad to hear it went well. Have you made it back to see all of the changes they have made to the hotel?

I've never seen him. People on mefi go on about him all the time, so I guess he's funny. What should I watch?

I recommend starting with his stand up, Shameless and Chewed Up are good. Some people don't dig his stand up but like his show, Louie, of which season 1 is on Netflix. Here is a post with some clips that will give you a feel for his style. The comments have some more good stuff too. Every time he comes up as a topic, people seem to find good clips and interviews, if you find that you like him.

The last time I was in Las Vegas was in 2003. I don't know if there were changes then. I don't think so but I could be wrong. I would love to get back because I haven't been to the Wynn or the Palms. Someday....

gaspode, I have seen his stand up show Shameless and it is good. I also watched Lucky Louie, which was funny and crude. I recommend both. I have not seen Chewed Up.

I'm watching the pilot of Louie right now.

I think Louis CK is somebody I'd like to be friends with, even though his humor doesn't make me laugh.

I have a strange, slight crush on the man.

I feel the same way. I think his eyes are soulful and beautiful. Definitely would love to hang with the guy.

that's okay, I've seen him naked.

(Louie is pretty great)

I had to look the guy up, never heard of him. But that's not surprising because few American stand-ups translate well over here, and vice versa (Frank Skinner? I hear you ask).

Last time I was in Vegas was for the wedding of Pips and JonMc. An awesome time was had by all. I fucking LOVE Vegas, although I can't quite understand why I like it so much, because usually I hate anything artificial, kitschy or bling.

The one thing that really irritates me about his show is that the actor who plays him as a kid has blue eyes.

With you there.

I grew up here and I hear my fellow locals bringing it down all the time and talking about how they avoid the strip. But there are some fun things to do there. The strip is a place where you can walk around in sneakers and jeans or dressed in a formal gown and fit in. And get service at a top restaurant or drinks at a swanky bar. I guess it all depends on how you use it.

For me, Vegas is everything New York isn't. New York is filthy and outrageous. Vegas is glitzy and clean- not clean like physically clean, the streets are littered with naked lady cards. I mean clean like white bread, like the vices are so bland that even if what happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas, there would be no reason for shame. That two such different grand cities can exist in one country is one reason I love America. USA! USA! USA!

I'm another Louis CK virgin. I wouldn't know the man if I ran over him. I'll check and see if YouTube has anything.

Speaking of surprising love for certain cities, I was surprised how I fell in love with NYC. Surprised my mum, too (we were there in 1999 for two weeks); I am so not a city girl. But NYC, I dunno, I just slipped into its arms without a problem.
