New Year's Resolutions Ok, I'm gonna publicly announce mine for the sake of greater accountability in actually following through. What are yours?[More:]1) Quit smoking. 2) Go to the gym at least twice a week.
Sure, I'll bite.

I actually make birthday resolutions, not New Year's resolutions, because they have more personal resonance that way. And most people do some form of stock-taking on their birthdays, so it's also thematically appropriate.

1. See my friends more. I am a workaholic. Which is perfect, because I love what I do without a twinge of resentment, but as an introvert, I can go months without seeing another person and motor right along. But I recognize that I need more balance in my life.

2. Keep trying to love my body. I was obese until college, then I lost 100 pounds. But because of that, I've never seen anything but my physical flaws. It has always been ridiculously hard keeping the weight off, and I can gain it back just by looking at the wrong food. Now that I'm in my mid-thirties, it's not going to get easier, so I could stand to be a little more forgiving as my body continues to age and ... do whatever mean things it's going to do.

3. Sing more. Because my world needs more singing.

1. HAVE A FUCKING AWESOME YEAR.

That is all.

I might resolve to climb the stairs to the 14th floor in my office building every work day. But I dunno.

I resolve to lurk less often.

Good luck Twiggy, those are 2 admirable goals.

Mykescipark, you could be writing my autobiography.

Hrm. Haven't thought about it yet. Like mykescipark, I tend to make birthday resolutions, but I didn't get around to it this year.

I think I want to have some sort of monthly running goal. Nothing too over the top, something like 60 or 70 miles.

I resolve to lose the ten pounds I put on earlier this year after my surgery.
It's kind've a funny goal, because I was a little underweight beforehand, and am actually now more of what would be considered a "healthy" weight for my size. This goal has nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with thriftiness - I HATE spending money on clothes, and I just want to fit into the clothing I already have. Maybe my goal should be to open my tight fist a bit more.

I haven't come up with my three resolutions and motto yet for 2011. I should probably get on that soon. Nothing has really struck me as strong enough to focus on for an entire year.

To Learn To Snowboard

I live at the base of a mountain that's offering a package that includes 4 days lessons, equipment rentals and lift tickets for $179 . At that price, this should be an easy resolution to achieve

Making a new year's resolution is like making a wish on a wishbone, a birthday cake, or a dandelion's seeds. I never seem to think of anything on demand.

Actually, I just realized that I usually make an informal wish that the dandelion seeds will plant lots of successful dandelions.

1. Lose weight.

2. Get fit.

3. Maintain 1 and 2.

I resolve to listen to more Robert Palmer. I'll do other things that are good too but only time will reveal them to me.
