Okay bunnies, I need bunny help. Rly. So there's this tame bunny that's been living rough in a business/industrial park for a while. It's a beautiful white bunny with floppy ears - definitely not a wild rabbit. I can get within a few feet of it before it takes off. I've no idea how it got where it is - probably an escapee or a dumped pet.[More:]

If I can capture this bunny, I have a friend (an experienced bunnyparent) who wants to adopt him/her. I borrowed a have-a-heart trap, but what should I bait it with? What do bunnies like in the same way that cats like tuna?
Fresh veggies or pretty much anything leafy and green. My bunny loved cilantro in particular. Maybe some of the yogurt chip treats from the pet store too.

If he (?) is a former pet, he might want some commercial pellets or treats or something.

Good luck and keep us posted!

There are a lot of now-feral bunnies that are descended from escaped domestic bunnies, now many bunny generations back. I don't think you can be be completely sure he's a former pet.

Carrots. I'd slice 'em.

The lop we had growing up was indifferent to carrots themselves, but would hop a mile for carrot tops.

Alfalfa/timothy hay mix. If you run by a feed store, they may have some loose (it comes off the bales as they're being moved) that they'd let you take, if you tell them why you want it.

Two things make me think this bunny is an escapee or a dumpee: I can get close to it, and none of the other bunnies around here are white. All the loose rabbits (except this one) have the traditional paint job.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll get him (or her) sooner (or later.) Off to the feed store!
