Bwuh? I just got results from a blood test. I, uh, tested positive for Lyme disease. [More:]

Huh.
Huh. What happens now?

Lots of doxycycline, apparently.

Tastes like plastic/gasoline. Take it with food or else you'll keep burping up that smell/flavor.
Hated the stuff.

I had it when I was a kid. I was lucky; mostly all I got was a ring on the back of my knee that started spreading up my leg and then went away with medication. I have a friend who got it a few years ago. It took a great toll on her energy levels. She's mostly better now.

I wish you the best; here's hoping it goes away quickly!

I lived in a heavy Lyme area, it's ....sucky. Medication has come a long way tho.

That sounds horrid galadriel - hope you have a speedy (and not too foul tasting) recovery!

Do you think it's a recent infection or have you had it a while?

Set aside a couple of days for the doxycycline to work. I had Lyme in the late 90s. The meds fighting it out with the virus really took it out of me; some nausea too. Hopefully you'll have a better experience - but don't plan to be taking LSATs or running a marathon or anything. Rest up.

Thanks for the good thoughts!

The doc thinks I've had it for years, the reason for my increasing pain levels, increasing POTS symptoms, and other strange musculoskeletal and neurological issues. Thinks I need to take doxycycline for months. I thought this was a kind of random "Well, here, let's try this and see if it makes you feel better" until the test did actually come up positive.

Now I'm just kinda gobsmacked. And filling that doxycycline script.

SO sorry! But glad that maybe your symptoms can be conquered now. Thinking of you.

I was treated this spring. I'd found two attached ticks a couple of days after a camping trip, and had just started getting the bullseye around one of them. Luckily, we started treatment early--two weeks of antibiotics, and I was fine.

I'm so glad you found a doc who tested for it. Good luck; I will also direct some mojo at you.
