Status 3-Pointer. Since I was late to the last one, here's my update for today.[More:]

1. Friday/Saturday self-link (Yes, I link to my journal a lot. Only because I already wrote it there!). tl;dr version: I went to Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary. And had a nice motorcycle ride.

2. Yesterday I did nothing. Today I am fighting that. My boss gave me today off because I have basically been drowning in work-stress and life-stress and was near a breakdown last week. I am a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of trying to put a Halloween costume together in the rest of today. The only idea I have is Miss Cleo (which I'd wear to hermitosis' MTL: Fortunetellers event!), but I have no idea where to look for the components. I'm sure I can find them. NYC is a big city, so it has everything, but the problem is where do you look?

3. I can hear everything today. Even the electrical noise when my trackpad engages. Weird. This usually means all my nerves are oversensitized and everything will annoy/grate on me. And the pain (neuralgia?) will be omnipresent. I'm going to look for some Advil to head things off at the pass. I have no idea what triggers these days other than stress. Or maybe it's the other way around.
1. Inexplicably, painfully tired.

2. As a result of #1, getting very little accomplished at work.

3. Also as a result of #1, inches away from crying at EVERYTHING.

Actually, the explanation is likely the stupid hormone supplements I'm taking. I have taken them before though, I don't know why the side effects are coming out of nowhere all of the sudden. I cried like a baby at videos of the PS22 Chorus last night.

I'd offer a hug, but that would probably aggravate our respective conditions. ;)

1. Soothing thoughts for both of you.

2. More soothing thoughts for everybody else.

3. Let's all have the gentlest of hugs and then hold hands without really touching.

1. I am going over to my mother's to finish tiling her hallway. I started this project in freaking AUGUST. However, with mom's husband's schedule it's been almost impossible to finish it. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to finish it with him in the house which is likely bad news because he's just not the type of person who can find something to occupy himself with for more than about twenty minutes. He's gotta stay out of the hallway for 3-6 hours. The hallway just happens to be the entrance to every single place in the house. There's a good chance I'm going to want to shove the tile saw up his ass today.

2. My brother is visiting this weekend which is why I have to finish the hallway. This is a huge YAY. And actually, finishing the hallway will also be a huge YAY. I just have to make it through today and tomorrow before I can be all YAY about it.

3. Hugs (or maybe drugs in the case of Eide) to everyone.

I think I left my Advil in Boston. But I'm up now, and getting drugs will be my #1 priority once I'm out of the house.

I'm far too cheerful today for this thread, so no update from me.

Eide, this is what my googlefu turned up re NYC halloween stores

Miss Cleo looks very easy to me without a costume store: I'd trot to a store that sells African style clothes, get a loud print mumu and matching turban and a big necklace, maybe some large sunglasses, and hit the costume or a theatrical shop for the appropriate face and hand makeup.

Soothing whuffles and hugs to all that need them.

1. Son was an extra on a movie set yesterday. His scene was apparently "lame party scene". He drank apple juice and pretended it was beer and laughed unenthusiastically every once and awhile. Not a bad way to earn an extra few bucks on the side.

2. A beloved and very sick aunt had a heart catheterization procedure today that went well, so we are all exhaling in relief.

3. My dog has become Ms. Farty McTootypants over the past few days, and I can't figure out what she's eating to make her ass stink so much right now.

Eide, I think you need to carry a phone around with you to make it clear. Or else hang a 1-900 number sign around your neck.

1. I did something so stupid I can't bear to repeat the words one more time. It'll all be ok by tomorrow so no harm done, thank god.

2. So tired, been up since before five, studied all freaking day, went to a seminar, got to be up early tomorrow.

3. This guy is turning out to not be very geeky at all, he just likes Star Wars as his favorite movie. He seems more sporty than anything else. Am wondering if going to a Halloween party where I know no one is a good idea. Am I in the mood to make fun happen? It's going to be kind of a long week. I still haven't made my horns. Tired. We may meet for drinks after my evening class on Wednesday. Tired.

I finished my costume. Well, I have all the parts.

I got:
+ 2 scarves. One will be for my head, the other will be a belt of sorts (sash?).
+ A few yards of fabric. No time to sew, but I'm going to fold part in half, cut a hole for my head, and wear it as a poncho (with one of the scarves holding it closed). The rest of the fabric I'll wrap about my waist (under the poncho) making kind of a skirt.
+ A "rasta" wig for the dreds. I think I have figured out how to tie this up with the other scarf so it looks like Cleo. The scarf isn't really Cleo-y, but it's got sun-moon-stars so I'm considering it fortuneteller-y.
+ Some cheap jewelry. It's more Haitian than Jamaican (tho we know Cleo wasn't really Jamaican anyway), but I really love the handmade skull-bead bracelets I found. I couldn't make the bangles happen (narrow wrists, but big hands). But I have a chunky necklace, and I am going to suspend some super-jangly earrings from rubberbands that I put around my earlobes (couldn't find clip-ons that were jangly). With the scarf/wig combo, you can't really see that they're not attached.
+ Mah tarot cards!

I need to cut the fabric and safety pin the hell out of it all, but for now I'm taking more Advil and going to bed. Thanks for all the well-wishes.
