Excellent but missing some key points:

1. Know your kitty's major petting zones: the ears, the "third eye" in the middle of the forehead, and the chest.

2. Beware of tail pets. Many kitties despise having thair tail touched or pulled.

3. Kitty pets must occur in the kitty approved kitty position. Not the position you think kitty should like. Potential kitty approved positions include lap, chest, held stomach side down in arms, and while kitty stands or sits.

Also, being bitten by your kitty while petting is usually good and means kitty approves. Not good: when kitty is also hissing and glaring.

i often have to tell my kitty it's petting time since she confuses it with time for another meal.
