Colbert/Stewart + Halloween = ?Costume? i will be in dc for the Sanity/Fear, but it's also H'ween!!![More:]

please help me think of something that i can be that might political and witty. or a super villain of some sort.

i'm down for a certain amount of "sexy" but it doesn't have to be. i have some black high heeled boots that are actually comfortable to walk all over in. i also have black chucks. having a reason to buy a cigarette holder would be fantastic. i have an awesome fitted black leather jacket.

if my costume does not have pockets, i'll be carrying a small purse.

i know it will be crowded, so i don't want to have giant wings or anything that would poke others in close proximity. some sort of funny headband/hat thing would be fine.

i have blond hair (curly, but i can make it straight), so i can easily add some sort of temporary color. i'm fairly trim and about 5'6". kinda pale.

thrift stores where i live are not the greatest, but i have a few weeks so i may be able to find something.

i am a bit crafty, but i do not sew nor know no anyone who does. i was hoping to take readymade pieces and sort of piece together a costume from it.

i've looked thru pretty much every thread on ask.me about halloween costumes over the last few days but haven't had a lightbulb go off yet.

help!!!

Hawloween is the next day! Problem solved!

Cold war spy? Awesome boots, slinky dress or pencil skirt and sweater, trenchcoat, cigarette holder, fedora, bright red lipstick.

ooooh...i like it!

i've been wanting a fedora as well. i do have a slinky dress. my only trench coat is bright blue, but i think i could find one in a thrift store for sure.

now to brush up on my russian...

When I hear "Cold War Spy", I think Natasha Fatale from the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons, whose cartoon dress is very simple (and oddly similar to Marge Simpson's). In live-action version, she's more covered up with a trenchcoat, but whatever you get, dye it purple and you will be greeted by Bullwinkle fans. (And don't be insulted if they yell at you "Shaddap You Mouth!"; it's a catchphrase) And no Russian required; Pottsylvania is a totally fictional country where Boris & Natasha have Russian accents but Fearless Leader has a German accent.

Just remember the advisory from Jon Stewart posted here yesterday.
No nudity. No throwing stuff. No fascism. All of which, Jon says, boil down to the very basic 'when in doubt, don't be douchey.'

Sadly, when I think of a really good Halloween costume, I think "Douchey".

But maybe the douchey-est thing an attendee could wear (that Jon didn't mention) would be a Conan O'Brien red wig, since his show premieres opposite TDS/TCR a week later.

i will do my best to not be nude facist tossing stuff!

i was trying to find some images of movie portrayals of female cold war/soviet spies and am not having luck. my google-fu is lacking. i know i've seen plenty of old movies with mysterious women in trenchcoats, fedoras, and dark dresses, smoking cigarettes. i just cant' remember any of them!
