how do you lay out your pockets or other accessory carrying facility [More:]

I do this from way back (below pockets are trouser/jeans pockets)

Wallet -> Right front pocket
Keys -> Right front pocket, preferably one of those 'little' extra pockets they got there
(optional) pen -> Clipped inside right front pocket

-> Phone: left pocket
(optional) folded paper, moleskine etc: back left pocket or (rarely) in shirt pocket if available
Wallet right, keys right, phone left; if it's rainy and I'm wearing work pants I slide my folding umbrella into the utility pocket halfway down the right pantleg and secure the handle in the hammer loop.

If I'm wearing a suit the wallet goes in the left breast pocket of my jacket and the phone and umbrella go in my briefcase.

You might be interested in some of the suggestions here.

wallet and keys, right front pocket.
watch, pen, spare change, grocery list or other reminders: left front pocket

Oh yeah, I forgot change... coins and keys always go together; phone never goes with change or keys.

Also I don't use my back pockets for anything but stuffing my hands into when sulking or shucksing.

Wallet in the right butt pocket, keys in the left pocket, phone in the right pocket.

Wallet in right rear, misc. notes (maps, lists) left rear, keys right front unless I'm carrying my iPod, I'm which case it goes right front and car remote gets tucked into the little change pocket and keys dangle out. Smokes, lighter and phone go front left unless I'm wearing a shirt or jacket with breast pockets (fairly rare) in which case smokes go in upper left. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore a suit.

-- Keys: small bent-gate carabiner clipped to right front belt loop. as an aside: since switching to this method of key carry I haven't lost/misplaced them once. If they're not on my person, then they're clipped to the dee on my messenger bag's shoulder holster. Those are the only 2 places they're ever allowed to be, and the bag's too fucking big to lose, so, yea.

-- work ID/access badge on a badge reel clipped next to them on the belt.

-- Wallet in my right rear pocket, U-lock (when I carry it) goes in the left rear.

-- Phone rides in the (left side) shoulder holster on my messenger bag, unless I'm without the bag, then it's in the front left pocket of my pants or in the left pocket of my hoodie. I'm right handed but pretty much always use the phone lefty.

I usually carry a handbag or a messenger bag, but when I'm traveling light, it's

- left front pocket: lip balm, cash (I'm lefty)
- right front pocket: shopping list, directions, or anything else I've jotted down; when I carry a cell phone, it goes here, too
- left rear pocket: microfiber cloth for cleaning glasses
- right rear pocket: nothing, or possibly a fold-up marketing bag

and my keys are on the six-inch safetey-pin keyring a friend gave me when I was a 14-year-old punk. It opens and closes like a real safety pin, so I can hook it around a bag strap. When I'm going pockets-only, I hook it to a belt loop and tuck it into the front pocket: right-hand pocket if I'm going to the farmers' market or somewhere else I'll be dipping into my cash pocket often.

Left front pocket: personal keys
Right front pocket: aluminum card case, folded bills, and change
Left hip pocket: handkerchief (during sniffle season).
Right hip pocket: receipts and other paper that I sort out and file or toss later, depending.

Work ID tag on lanyard around neck.

Cellphone in any jacket of shirt pocket that I have.

My Tom Bihn messenger bag has ordered everything: each item has its own pocket or clip. My wallet, keys, mp3 player, etc. live in it in their assigned places. Only the little pocket for my Thermos coffee mug and my tin for carrying my lunch emerge in the evenings from their assigned spots, for cleaning and to be refilled in the AMs.

I can't figure out how I lived without this bag.

I put everything I own in my purse. When it gets too heavy, I take something out. Soon, I buy a bigger purse.

Front left pocket: phone, wallet, maybe earbuds, maybe a pen.

Front right pocket: multitool, change, keys and maybe a handkerchief when I'm wearing office clothes.

Otherwise, when I'm usually wearing Carhartts, the keys get clipped to a belt loop and shoved into the right back pocket, and the maybe-a-handkerchief goes into the left one.

Most of the time, I also have a small messenger bag which carries a couple books, a netbook, a water bottle, a canvas totebag for grocery shopping, a recycled-malt-sack bomber carrier, my real headphones, maybe some tools, maybe a camera, etc. etc., all that kinda stuff.

Unless I have my laptop its usually:

- Key (singular) in my front left pocket
- Wallet in my rear left pocket
- Phone in either my right front pocket or side pocket if I've got cargo shorts on.
- Nothing else.

Purses/handbags mystify me. Occasionally these days I need to dig stuff out of a handbag (which weirds me out anyway cause I've always found them kinda sacrosanct/private so it bothers me for someone to ask me to dig something outta their purse, but anyway) I'm like WOW this stuff is just a pile of piles! How am I supposed to find anything in here

I usually carry a messenger bag, but if not: lip balm and keys in front right pocket. Actually, that's where they go even if I am carrying my bag.

I also love the following short videos about (my style of) Tom Bihn bags. This one is fun as it is in German. And this one is a pretty good illustration of how my bag just makes it easy to stash and find everything. Plus I love the narrator's calm, rational, somewhat nerdy explanation.

TPS and I have a similar strategy. I just bought a smaller purse because it matches my favorite pair of shoes and I'm desperately trying to not curse at it because I have to dig in a much tinier space to find anything.

Keys on mini carabiner on belt loop, stuffed in a pocket. Change, lip balm RF pocket. Wallet (which is really a leather money clip with room for ID) tends to be RF as well. Phone varies, as I don't take it into work. Pen and notepad also always around - usually a back pocket but I'm seldom without a bag of some sort, a habit I cannot seem to kick.

I hate carrying anything in my pockets.

Workdays, iPhone lives in a pouch on my belt, ID/swipe card on a retractable-spool clip on belt, pen in shirt pocket. Everything else lives in my backpack.

Weekends, iPhone lives in same pouch either on belt or clipped to waistband of shorts, keys (if I carry them) clipped with stainless steel snap-hook to belt or shorts. If I need my wallet, I carry it. If I need more than that, I carry a small backpack or put everything in SO's black hole of a handbag (because it's such a black hole, this is rare - how do women ever cope with stuffing all that crap in a bag that swallows the contents such that nothing can ever be found without removing everything?)
