Facebook weirdness. Although the bulk of my Facebook contacts are the usual family and old friends, most of the posts I get are by far from the relatively few Metachat members that I have friended.
Facebook quietly tracks whose posts you click on or comment on and promotes those people's posts on your home page.

I think it's trying to tell you that you love MeChazens best of all.

It's either
1- they post more often
2 - Facebook's algorithm wants to show you their posts more often.

One way I've dealt with this is by "hiding" the people I want to see less of for a while, and then being active in commenting/liking people I do want to see more of. You can unhide people after a while - it seems to reorganize the info in the meantime.

I always go with Most Recent rather than Top News, so FB's algorithm does not come into play for me.

Well then it's not weirdness. They just post more than your other friends.

Most Recent only shows you the latest 250 updates at one time. So if you have more than 250 friends, or if they post a lot individually, or if you subscribe to a lot of Pages that update a lot, you still won't see everything from everyone.

MetaChat (a place to post stuff and talk about stuff) grew out of MeFi (a place to post stuff and comment on stuff) - so MeCha people are likely more inclined to post and comment on a social website than your average not-involved-in-post/comment-sites person (which is probably your average Facebook friends/family user)?

(The fact that Facebook does not show me every update from every person on my friends list who I have not hidden, like an RSS feed would, is extremely obnoxious, btw.)

I don't think that's true... Often when I go on it says there are 300+ new posts and I assume it's showing me all of them.

Yeah, you can change the number of recent updates... maybe you did so sometime in the past? Mine shows 1000 recents.

But that doesn't actually change the number of recent updates, it just changes the number of friends from whom you see updates, right? Or am I misunderstanding?
