Thought for the day When you feel like you give a little, then you're not afraid to call a friend to ask for something.
You know, so you don't have the situation where someone says, "you only call me when you want something", or more commonly, doesn't say that but quietly thinks it.
Of course, people do tend to forget what you did for them, and it doesn't always come off too good when you remind them.
But if you know that you did something for someone, then you are less afraid to ask them when you need something. Or to just call them when you want to talk.
Oh ok, I get that. We have a friend we trade cat-sitting with- I feel much better asking her to watch our cat knowing that I've already watched hers a bunch of times. (Incidentally, we owe her, so I'm sure any day now, she'll be asking us to watch the cats).
Does anyone else ever get the feeling that life is mostly split between two kinds of people: the Bottomless Pits of Neediness who take, take, take and never give anything back; and the Suckers who are relentlessly exploited by them?
