This is a "Couchsurfing.org = YAY!" post! →[More:]
So I signed up a week or so ago and filled out my whole profile, a little bit peeved at how counter-intuitive the process and site design seemed to me (I've visited *way* too many countries!). I joined a few of my local groups - and was shocked at how many members there were!
Busy with work this weekend, I put it aside, thinking I'd post a message to the groups of the places I'm going on vacation soon (Rseszów, Poland, and Lviv, Ukraine) more toward the end of this week.
But I found some time today. I posted a super-brief "hey, I'm visiting your cool city, let's meet up for coffee or a drink!"-sort-of-thing, and *BOOM*,
five hours later, now my whole social calendar is totally full!
One of the things I hate about visiting a new city is not having someone to answer my questions about a certain thing I noticed, or having to hew to what the guidebook mentions; that's all over now!
What are your great Couchsurfing experiences? Hosting, being hosted, meeting up with people? :)
