A friend was beating herself up over "wasting money" on some indulgent treat --- which she dearly wanted and could well afford; she just felt that others might judge her harshly for the extravagance.
I pointed out to her that most of us will splurge on something, even if it's invisible to casual observers. In my kitchen right now, I have six kinds of salt and nine kinds of vinegar.
Don't give me a hundred bucks. I'll just blow it on salt and vinegar.
Clothes. I need new jeans for non-work activities (since I only have 3 pairs for work that I rotate around and two of them don't fit). And possibly some cheap separates for volunteering at NARA. I have a serious hole in my wardrobe that needs to be filled with 'business casual'.
(More practically, I'd probably use it on gas/food/psych meds.)
A proper foot care ritual. I meant to do one at the beginning of summer but had no money, now I have a big blister on my pinkietoe that is seriously hurtiiiin so i'd like a proper footcare specialist going all buff and scrub and nail-fixing on me right about now.
