Something good happened to me today All sizes welcome.→[More:]
I'll go first.
I'm going to sleep tonight ten times less scared of losing my job than I was when I woke up this morning.
I had one of those mornings where I got to deal with a problem that was bad, but not SCARY bad, and it reminded me that I am good at what I do, and that I enjoy it. It's been a while. So...yeah, that was nice. Not, you know, BUYING A HOUSE NICE, but alright.
and congrats on not having the imminent job-loss hanging over you! that's an awful feeling -- I had it for about 18 months a few years ago... (it was almost a relief to actually finally be let go, but of course it's even better to not have to find a new job at all :) )
I made a fuckin' awesome dinner. I was thinking of it as just a regular weeknight dinner, but it turned into a ridiculously awesome wonderful meal -- roast chicken with lemon and rosemary, roasted sweet peppers, rice, and a salad of mixed greens (I had several half-heads of lettuces in the fridge), red onions, chives, bacon, and a homemade apple cider dijon vinaigrette.
I'm starting to feel like I'm a very good cook, and that makes me happy.
I stopped engaging with a boy who is not worth my time, and I feel good (if a little stomach-fluttery) about the decision to cut his drama out of my life.
I am off to DC today to visit some friends I haven't seen in over three years. We are staying in a sweet-ass hotel that caters to dog lovers, so the pup is coming with as well. I haven't been feeling great for the past week or so, but I can't wait to see these friends. That's the best I got. Congrats to everyone on their great news. Gaspode, I am so happy you are moving, that's wonderful news!
today the train announcer gave all his announcements in PIRATE! IMMD!!!
There is an attempt here in Hastings to break the Guinness book of world records Most Pirates in one place, and so each time we were approaching a station he would say "oooo-arrgh me maties, we will shortly be arrivin' at XXXX... and this continued the whole journey. It was brilliant to see people's incomprehension turn to giggles.
I have learned I am going to be Aunt Kitty to a brand new person who is scheduled to arrive in February or March. While not sure how this can possibly top being Aunt Kitty/Aunt Wachow to my wee nephew Ben, I'm prepared for surprises this time around.
