One of my favorite Italo Calvino stories, "The Argentine Ant", is about just this type of situation. It's a great, horrible read.

AAAAAAH!

I am stoopid, so I went to youtube (of all ill-advised places to go) to see if I could find any argentine ants, and came up with ants eating (dead) gecko. At the end of that I was half expecting them to make the bones dance or something. Now I'm off to have some really scary dreams.
