Happy World Listening Day! [More:]
Brought to you by the fine folks at the World Listening Project. Suggested activities for the day include:

· You can set aside some time when you pay attention to your soundscape.
· You can organize a listening party when people play field recordings.
· You can organize a soundwalk.
· Other possibilities…

Now get out there and listen!
It's a lot nicer day here in Western Washington than the weather persons told us it would be, so I'm gonna head outside and pay attention to my local surroundings. Maybe bicycle to a few selected locations and listen.

So what is everyone else hearing today?

Hmmm. I don't think I did it right. Spent the better part of the afternoon at the lat day of a fantastic music festival that my friend and neighbour organizes. It WAS in the middle of the woods, so there was lots of river noise, and general wilderness sounds when bands WEREN'T playing.

You know, I don't know if I know what they're talking about. But here's what I listened to today:

1. Old-time radio stuff on Audio Noir.
2. BBC Radio 2 big band music and then David Jacobs.
3. The Big Broadcast on WAMU.

I also listened to my elderly cat purr as he sat on my lap for the few minutes it's possible in this ghastly heat.

I also listened to tempeh, onions, and broccoli frying as I bravely cooked a meal in my overly hot hot hot hot kitchen. The meal was good, but holy cow I should not cook in this heat.
