Help me name my new little girl cat... She's two, believe it or not, but is so tiny that she looks like a kitten.[More:]

I'm besotted already, but haven't got a name for her yet.

What should we call her?

Traditionally, all our cats have a classical music themed name, like Claude (Debussy), Ludwig, Gus (Mahler) etc.

What should she be called??
Carmen?

Scout. At the theatre we recently had a production of To Kill A Mockingbird for the gold anniversary of the book. For some reason that picture makes me think of "Scout" Finch.

I like BOP's suggestion far more than my own.

So cute! I vote Nina (Simone). Even though she's known as a jazz musician, she was trained classically...

Bella, because she's beautiful.

Anna Magdalena. Maggie for short? After, of course Anna Magdelena Bach.

"Anna Magdalana Bach likely was more than just a copyist. Some scholars credit her as a musical collaborator, and promote the idea that she wrote several pieces which he published under his (more famous) name and may have had significant influence in a few pieces which were otherwise composed by him."

Coco (because of her colouring and also because, being tiny and elegant, she's like Coco Chanel) or Anastasia (because she looks like a princess in disguise).

If you want to stick with the music theme, you might name her Billie after Billie Halliday. If you'd like to strictly adhere to a classical composter theme, there is a list of female composers here. I've heard of so few of them. One that made me snicker a little was "Maria Cattarina Calegari", but that's a bit of a mouthful.

Classical composer. I don't think composting gets classified into different catgeories such as classical, rock, folk, new wave, etc.

Oh, and if you go with Anna Magdalena Bach, you can call her Magda for short.

You haven't heard the last Britney Spears record.

She looks like a Myrtle to me. :-) (But then, I like old-fashioned names for cats.)

For some reason I ALWAYS make the compost typo when I type out compose or composer, and then I curse and correct it, but this time I missed it.

jonathanstrange, be sure to post back and let use know what you decided upon.

Another vote here for Clara, after the very beautiful and talented female pianist and composer, Clara Schumann.

Oh! Clara is gorgeous!

I think we've decided on Eva though. Not strictly classical, but there is a bit of a jazz thing there, and also Eva is the name of my favourite author. Thanks for the help, guys! :)
