AskMecha: Hi Bunnies! In the interest of not becoming a felon due to work related Whiskey Tango Foxtrot circus activities, I have joined a gym.[More:]

The good news is that I'm *really* enjoying it, however, I suspect that I will soon become tired of their workout soundtrack/gym radio [TM]. I'd love any suggestions for workout music to load onto my iPod.

Thanks!!
hard to recommend anything when I don't know what you listen to normally to get your blood up...if you don't like the usual, auto-tuned, OOMPH OOMPH OOMPH music you're getting now. Tell me who excites you and gets you moving and I'll have your rec's ready.

Check out the Boredoms' newest music like Seadrum, or Super Roots 9. They are big long high-energy jams with uplifting piano and choir singing and lots and lots of drums. I think they'll get you pumped, and the songs are also really long and trancey.

Thanks, fuq; I've never heard of them, but I'll definitely check them out!

LT, I think I didn't frame my question well. This isn't a "tell me what to listen to because I'm too lazy to go look for it myself" question. If I knew what I was looking for I would go out and find it. I suppose I could just google "work out music" and perhaps I should, but I though this would be more interesting. On the other hand, I've stumbled across a few Pandora workout stations that were true lackluster at best.

It's also not that I don't like the music at the gym; quite the opposite, I really do. However it is gym radio [TM] and I imagine they only have licenses for X many songs that I'm sure to grow weary of due to repetition. Additionally, because it's not a public station, songs are never announced making it difficult to hunt them down on my own. Mostly due to time and social constraints, I don't listen to popular radio, nor do I watch much TV so I my exposure is pretty limited and [again] I simply do not have time to fund a personal musical adventure at the moment.

I've got plenty of great music and much of it decent/workable for the gym, but I wouldn't mind injecting my current collection with some new and interesting blood to kick things up a notch or two.

Ghostface Killah - The Champ

You might check out those Nike workout mixes, too--I know there are ones by Aesop Rock and LCD Soundsystem, and there are probably others.

Side note: My preference is for full albums to make the time on treadmills go by quicker.
