I hope so, it would be evidence of a connection between Intelligence and Socialism and since the Clever are doing such a crappy job of ruling the world, evidence that the Intelligent would indeed do better.

The "scientist has formula" thing is a regular PR gimmick in the UK. A PR company pays a (real or fake) scientist to make up a dubious equation, and puts out a press release associating it with their client. Ben Goldacre has mentioned it many times.
