BP Radio! Going to play some new stuff that I got this week, padded out with etc. Starting in 15 minutes!
Now playing.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 22:48
Is it still on? I'm gettin' silence. RADIO SILENCE.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:11
How about now?
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:15
You would think... YOU WOULD THINK... I could have mastered this by now.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:16
Hm -- still nothing. I think the problem might be on my end. I'm gonna thrash a bit and see if I can get it to go.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:16
The thing is, on the MetaRadio site, it's saying "now playing". On the LoudCity thing, it won't load the stream, and same with my iTunes....
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:17
Try now.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:20
AH, OK. For some reason, only the Real Player stream will work.

YAY! Robyn Hitchcock!
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:21
We've just recently idiot-proofed it, and I'm the test pilot.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:21
Hello!
posted by arse_hat 30 January | 23:21
Is Robyn Hitchcock the last thing? I have to use real player, too.
posted by ethylene 30 January | 23:22
Speaking of YAY... YAY you on MetaChat! It's good to see you on here! :)
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:22
Awesome!

For some reason, it doesn't like the iTunes version, but hey, as long as I can listen to it, that's the important thing. That and, well, it's not 1995 anymore, so RealAudio doesn't suck so much ass anymore...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:22
Robyn Hitchcock is the first thing, eth... apparently I was broadcasting to the wall earlier.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:23
hehe, thanks! I actually happened to see you on here when I was on, thanks to yer twitter! So, I'm happy on that one, too.

What Jihad Jerry cut did you play? Or not play as the case may be?
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:23
*tweaks arse_hat on the butt*
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:24
BTW -- checken der dropenboxen.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:25
The same one that will play in a minute, Rev. Now that people can hear it.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:25
haha, cool.

BTW -- what's this? The "now playing" thingy isn't showing up for me, and it's AWESOME.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:26
I heard a little Style Council before and i saw it said the Eels and Wolfgang Press. It's not playing now.
posted by ethylene 30 January | 23:27
Hm -- I've got audio (a really awesome remix/mashup of "Stuck in teh Middle with You" and now a cover of "Mama told me not to come"), but I got no "Now Playing" info.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:30
Ah, Now Playing is back. And let me know this is the Wolfgang Press cut mentioned. Hm!

I did try to get the iTunes version to work again, but no dice... but I do just have my Real stream going too, so hey. I'm not complainin'.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:31
It's on for me but i've got to go soon. Thanks anyway.
posted by ethylene 30 January | 23:31
Ah, this one...8) I can see that...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:32
If you are having issues try putting this into your music player of choice

posted by arse_hat 30 January | 23:32
AH, arse -- that did the trick. Thank you!
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:34
YES! Ivers! Man, everyone should know Peter Ivers.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:39
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW PETER IVERS.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:41
PEOPLE SHOULD BREAK INTO OTHER PEOPLES HOUSES SHOUTING "YOU NEED TO KNOW PETER IVERS" AND BRING A BOOMBOX WITH LIKE TERMINAL LOVE AND JUST BE ALL KNOW THIS!!!! KNOW!!!
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:42
I don't know this fella, but this is really good, too. Maybe not hiring rock & roll death squads to commit B&E over, but, y'know, still pretty awesome.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:43
I'm going to have to sit down more with his album.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:44
Adam Marsland is about 5 pegs down on the scale of people I want to break into people's houses over. Which is way up there, relatively.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:48
Heh, I can definitely see that.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:49
Our Peter Ivers assault has to happen, though.
posted by BoringPostcards 30 January | 23:52
Oh, I know. We should get uniforms and everything. Though, knowing Ivers, I think it'd probably just be our tighty-whities, which I think might scare people away from him. You know, not like the breaking down people's doors and shouting at them would.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:55
I always loved the "BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP" sound at the end of this song.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 30 January | 23:58
I find everyone looks funny in tighty-whities.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:05
heh, yeah, that's true. At least Peter Ivers had the body to pull it off, I'm all a tall, pasty, fat guy...8)

hhaahahah, YES - "Cowboys Are Quite Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other"! When this song came out, it was a huge hit at work. (It wasn't a hit OUTSIDE of our offices, sadly, but, you know.)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:07
hahaha, BP, that mashup is cool, but not THAT cool...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:09
Which one? :)
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:11
Oh, god yes, I love this song.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:13
The one that almost played 3 times in a row...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:13
I do not know why Winamp keeps bouncing back to songs I've already played
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:15
Uhhhhgg. I've had Winamp do that to me.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:16
Do you have it set up on shuffle, or are you playing a playlist straight through?
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:17
I'm just dropping songs in even as we speak
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:21
I worked with a guy who was (awesome and) big in Canadian Radio from a PD side. He always said Rush was "Canadian for 'Led Zeppelin'." Whenever I hear Rush, I think of him.

Man, now I'm sad. I miss Steve. He could also do an awesome Bob & Doug MacKenzie.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:22
Speaking of which OMG do I love Rush
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:22
Ah, OK. Hm -- strange. I wonder why it's doing that, then. I know that when I have winamp on shuffle at work, every so often it'll get stuck in a loop of like, five songs. That's why i was wondering...
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:23
Man, you're not gonna turn all Randroid on us, are you?
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:23
Sorry dude, Rush were awesome in their day
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:23
Well, no, and to their credit neither did they :)
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:24
hehe, I know, I'm just messing with you. Though it was kinda funny when we got Snakes & Ladders in at work, and paging through the liners, seeing "Reason" capitalized everywhere!

This is a really cool mashup too. I like that I was surprisingly old when I realized what "Relax, don't do it, when you want to come" meant.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:26
Hey -- have you heard the Heloise & The Savoir-Faire stuff yet?
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:29
I feel so dirty.
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:32
Rush. Jump to 6:45. Always brings a tear to my eye.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:32
Man, I love Lady Gaga. My dad's a huge fan, too, which kinda surprised me. One day he goes all "So... um... how do you feel about.... Lady Gaga?" all like, feeling me out or somethin'.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:36
Ah, I saw this was the Single Version. I was gonna say -- gonna take a dinner break? 8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:36
der musical volks something er other... everbody knows how to sing along to "Autobahn."
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:38
It always cracked me up that American TV would not play the original Relax theater/Nero/Orgy video so FGTH had to make another.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:38
I am with this stream in spirit but cannot get realplayer to goddamn work in actuality.
posted by notquitemaryann 31 January | 00:38
And that's it! I wish I'd planned for a longer set, but there it is.
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:39
Huh -- I just got kicked from the stream.

Ah, well then!
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:39
Cool stream, though!

How does it work, you book a chunk o' time, and then when it's up, you're done?
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:40
Go here RSMM.

posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:42
Good Music but no set list? pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppt!
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:43
The stream is gone... unless one of you picks it up. Which would be cool... any takers?
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:43
I just signed up! I'm hoping they send me a little "How to actually do this" info packet, because, man, this is fun.
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:44
Set list? Damn, you're a harsh taskmaster, arse_hat.. ok lemme see if I can find it
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:45
OK! I'm on.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:46
Be with you shortly RSMM.

Hm -- I'm on a Mac; it looks like Edcast is windows only. Hopefully there's such a beast that'll work for that. 8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:49
Death in Vegas! Awesome!
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:50
I know -- this is awesome. It kinda reminds me of "Pictures of Matchstick Men".

I am amused that I work in radio, and I'm pretty handy with computers, but apparently marrying the two baffles me...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:51
OK you are the first Mac person. I do a bit of looking and see if I can get you running.
posted by arse_hat 31 January | 00:52
Ah, fair enough. If it ends up being a pain, just tell me my kind aren't wanted...8)
posted by Rev. Syung Myung Me 31 January | 00:52
It took me FOREVER to get the web radio thing going... and I work in broadcast for a living. I know what you mean.

on preview: arse_hat is the guru. You are set.
posted by BoringPostcards 31 January | 00:54
Kicking it off:
Death in Vegas - Scorpio Rising
The Crystal Method - High Roller

BP: It looks like it's sort of a variation on what one of our engineers always said: "Communication is our business, it's not what we do."
