This is a thread for amro and I to discuss our love of MTV's Teen Mom. Haters to the left.→[More:]How much did you love Tyler looking at engagement rings? Kid is a high school senior with $1700 dollars in the bank. I love him.
I know, I looked and couldn't find it either... Though I did see a clip of Maci's loser boyfriend with glasses on and damn but that teenage slacker looks handsome!
Do you think that it glamorizes teen motherhood, or is it the other way, or both, or neither, or what? Coworkers who watch the program disagree on this point.
No way! They all struggle financially, and none of them have good, supportive relationships except the couple that gave their baby up for adoption. None of them are doing what they want to be doing, which is going to college (though one or two are going part-time I think). I mean, they are surviving and their babies are cute, but it certainly doesn't glamourize the lifestyle, IMHO.
If anything I suspect (and hope) that it will influence more pregnant teens to give their babies up for adoption. The couple that did that (Catelynn and Tyler) really come off as heroic.
Although some on TWOP pointed out that it seems everyone has finally started getting their MTV checks- Maci can put Bentley in daycare, Amber can get a new apartment, Tyler can buy an engagement ring, Catelynn gets braces...
When is someone going to pick up Catelynn and Tyler and just send them to college already? I want them to get out of that house and succeed SO BAD. They just make me cry, they're trying so hard.
