Solid Potato Salad. Watch past the first 45 seconds.
That's one of my favourite videos ever. I bet those girls were popular back in the day.

Um. Yeah. I should get back to the gym.

That was so Rule 34.

Yikes! I can only watch so much of that kind of movement before I start having visions of someone's neck snapping. (I think that means I'm a pessimist, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.)

Ouch!

Damn, that's amazing. I wonder if they have extra fingers and toes.

If eating solid potato salad will make me that limber ... I think I'll only eat a little.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who not only Rule 34'd that.

Love the video! Hate the phrase "solid potato salad". It makes me picture some kind of large, amorphous bolus of lumpy, vaguely yellowish vegetable matter wedged tightly up somebody's...

Love the video!

I know - in my mind, "solid potato" means "not cut up." I was trying to picture what this would look like before I clicked the link.

It wasn't appetizing.

Isn't "solid" a slangy mid-century expression (predating the '70s usage) used to describe hip music, e.g, "laying down some solid licks"? I have an image of Barbara Stanwyck dolled up as a showgirl (almost certainly in Ball of Fire) talking about some musician's solid, uh, something.

In a cursory seach, I can't find any back-up for this impression.

Ah, here's a clip with Stanwyck (as Sugarpuss O'Shea) singing, "The cat is rockin' with a solid eight" [~2:42]. Not sure if that's a slang usage or a traditional usage of "solid." So, no help for my impression that it's slang... but fun to watch! Gene Krupa!

Good call, Elsa: Searching "solid" + "hepcat slang" returns:

Solid - Another swing-era superlative meaning good or great.
Ex: "Solid", jackson! (Good work.)
Ex: "Some of you cats are not on the beam.
I know what's wrong, you've been cooking with cream.
Now if you want a beat that's "Solid" and hard, Then
Fry me mama with a can of Lard"
--(Bradley Orch. Tune Lyric)

And Cab Calloway's hepcat dictionary, which I love but can't access from here except the excerpt via this site, says:

Solid (adj.): great, swell, okay.

We even went for the same link!

That verse is irresistible!

That can't be good for the spine.

Also: this will now be incorporated into my "fantasy file."

Picture the scene. The ColdChef house. Mrs ColdChef walks into the bedroom one evening and sees a complicated arrangement of planks, straw bales and an apple ...

Ha!

Unreal. Those girls weren't just incredibly limber, they had killer core strength to come back up again from their deep and slow backbends.

(But was it just me who found themselves thinking of Linda Blair spider-walking down the stairs in The Exorcist around during 1:25 to 1:40?)

Oh bollocks, it's all CGI animation, AND NOT VERY GOOD AT THAT.

This right here. A whole cavalcade of Things Bodies Shouldn't Do.
