Gerard Butler's belly pokes a hole in Hollywood's beauty double standard Yes, it's vain star gazing, but I found it hilarious this morning.
No one who has seen the preview for his new movie with Jennifer Aniston would be surprised to see that that's how he looks with his shirt off right now.

I don't think Vince Vaughn or Luke Wilson look any better right now, either. They all have the bloated look of someone who drinks too much.

Say what you will about Sylvester Stallone (see downpage). He didn't let himself bloat up like Steven Seagal.

I notice the double-standard more often on television. Remember how everyone screamed about Delta Burke gaining weight during her run on Designing Women? I don't recall anyone saying anything about William L. Petersen or George Eads blimping up during their run on CSI. Or, for that matter, the generous proportions of Fishburne when he came in as a replacement.

As a big-bellied gentleman myself, I enjoy the hypocrisy of shouting at the screen "Lose some weight, ya fat bastid!"

I always assumed his body in 300 was CGI.

I thought the same thing when I saw that story... normally it's only female celebs who get that treatment.

Though with actors it bugs me when an actor has an impeccably gym-honed body that you don't think the character would have time for. The only time I lost belief in The Wire was when Lieutenant Daniels took his shirt off...

Brandon, you have the bestest headline. HuffPo's headline is disgustingly flabby compared to yours.

oops. Gawker. Not HuffPo.

Hey, Butler—put down that cheeseburger! If I wanted to see a body that looked like mine on the screen, I'd watch H.R. Pufnstuf.

Am I the only one who doesn't think he looks bad at all?

No.

No, you're not, CF.

I wonder how many airbrushed sets up abs there are out there?

A lot, I'll bet.

I hope and pray that a mainstream fetishization of round bellies comes into vogue in my lifetime.

Thank taz, I've been slimming down for my role in 100, an epic tale of lonely designer with only 100 minutes to create and layout an 8pg CMYK insert.
