.Going Rogue goes rogue. Going Rogue, the audio book is available on demonoid, the bittorrent site. I understand it needed to be made into an audio book because some people don't know how to read, but who exactly wants to deny Sarah her royalties and yet wants to read this? Any theories?
I'll wait for the mashups.

Maybe the uploader could give two shits about Palin's royalties or even reading it. Maybe it's a question of prestige, of being the first guy to upload that file.

So did she read the audio book herself?

You betcha!

Darn, I was hoping that the publisher had hired Shatner or maybe Tom Waits to read it.

People download all sorts of things they never use, just to say they have it. Same for uploaders.

I'll wait for the mashups.

I'd say that producers would probably buy the source audio, but that isn't always the case (especially with material that probably wouldn't get cleared for remixing in a cheeky sort of way).

If it is her voice, it's a treasure trove of little out-of-context quotes to use in evil audio mashups. There was a time in my life when I'd have died - but not paid - for such content.

I have downloads of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and John McCain reading their respective opuses because I have masochistic tendencies. But I couldn't bring myself to download Palin. I'm sensitive to voices and hers is like running a steel file over one's teeth.

I want to deny her her royalties and not read the book. What do I do?

Methinks I've found my first-ever Mefi Project.

Lots of private file-sharing networks give people credit for the amount of stuff they upload, so some folks might be downloading it simply because they figure it'll be popular, and plan to seed it for a while.
