I haven't commented on this because I can't seem to get my thoughts together. Art is good! This seems bad! Why? NOT QUITE SURE! Renting the Louvre name, etc. seems grotesque and also pathetic.
If you (whatever entity you may be) are really invested (beyond more than cold cash and PR) in art... have the balls to start something new - a new invigorating collection - instead of throwing money at a famous institution until they cave in order to achieve instant cred.
Yet, art is good. Bringing more art to more places is always good, creating more places for art more seems like it should be always good. But this seems like those personal "libraries" that buy books by the yard.

That's it for me, as well. Or like the stereotypical bachelor who props up the "correct" jazz albums on the stereo to impress his date when she arrives, even though he's never played them.
Maybe they'll prove us wrong, though, and it'll be a good museum that actually does enrich people's lives. I'm not gonna hold my breath.
