I am proud to say that I know that #10 is Split Enz - I Got You, and ashamed to admit that I know that #6 is Debarge's "Rhythm of the Night"

OMG, Split Enz, one of the best bands EVER!

Gosh I don't know any of these. . .I guess I am at the speed of:

And you know that can't be bad. . .

or. . .

Remember what the Doormouse said. . .

Stuff like that. . .

Alright, carry on!

Warrant's 'Cherry Pie' contains the close-but-no-cigar line "Most folks don't because they're too busy bitchin'" (some teenagers at one of my library Guitar Hero programs played 'Cherry Pie,' like, five times in a row last week).

Oooh then I just wrote it wrong, for I meant Cherry Pie.

*consults notes*

Oh my memory was right - I had it written down correctly. I am just crap at transcribing.

So that leaves this one:

8. Walk her every day into a shady place

'Gigantic,' by The Pixies.

ding ding ding!

So ends the Monday '80s lyrics challenge. I'll see y'all next week :)

Cherry Pie is a fine song for its genre but I am delighted to find that none of my brain cells are being wasted remembering any lyrics to it.

Bonus Eighties round for shitzengiggles:

1. I am feeding off you, I will rearrange your scales.

2. I might like you better if we slept together.

3. Three miles to go, at the end of the road, there's blood I'm sure.

1 is REM but I can't remember the song.
posted by gaspode 23 November | 15:47
2 is Romero Void.
posted by Slack-a-gogo 23 November | 15:48
Um, Romeo Void. Romero Void was my short lived 80's cover band where we all dressed like Cesar Romero.
posted by Slack-a-gogo 23 November | 15:50
Gaspode has it right, but only half. Who can name that song?

Romeo Void is correct. Romero Void is NEVER correct.

Radio Free Europe?
posted by richat 23 November | 18:30
No, that's not it. In fact, I do recall the lyrics were indecipherable to me...I thought it started with "I'm not beating off, you..."
posted by richat 23 November | 18:32
I must excuse myself from further guessing, as the mix-up caused such madness that I HAD to google the answer. Even then it was more difficult than I expected!

These Days?

Romero Void is an awesome name for an (undead) band! BRAAAAINS!

I always thought the Duran Duran lyric was "discord and rhyme" but who knows what the hell Le Bon was on about most of the time.
