Why do the gods mock me? [More:]After months of anticipation, the new In-N-Out location just opened here. It's only a few hundred yards from where I work. So I thought my 30 minute lunch break might be enough to get there, use the drivethrough, and get back.

As if. There were close to 100 cars lined up - in addition to the dozens of people waiting to get in the door. Even with their legendary efficiency, the heroes in white would be lucky to serve that many customers by dinner time.

The McNuggets I had to settle for were bitter chicken indeed.
bitter chicken indeed.

I am often annoyed to discover that TONS of other people consider noon-ish to be lunch time as well. They are all-too-often in my way!

"Bitter chicken indeed" is my new go-to phrase to describe any existential dilemma brought on by the human condition, whether it be drive-through food or a massive war.

Change your lunch time to 13:00.

This is why I always eat lunch at 11:30.

They mock you because they can.

Were I a god, I wouldn't be able to rest for all the mocking I'd be doing (not counting all that omnipotence, of course - perhaps I could rest AND mock at the same time. That'd be nifty).
