Celebrating the Little Things Today I was on the bus, and a stranger pointed out my shoe was untied. [More:]From that one comment, we ended up having a conversation about staying positive and putting good energy into the world The conversation lasted only about 5 minutes, but it was exactly what I needed to hear since lately I've been feeling depressed and defeated. Use this space to celebrate the little things that went well for you today.
Lot of bad today, but, we harvested the remaining herbs and began drying them. The house has smelled wonderful today. That was great.

After hiding under the house for the last three weeks while the electrician has been here, the cat has decided that it's safe and is curled up in my arms making the most disgusting snorting noises because she's trying to purr with her head in my elbow-pit.

I've realized that it is OK to save and then realize a mission is beyond you.

Even if Flemeth totally smoked me, that doesn't mean I am a shitty adventurer... and there are other places I can go and other things I can do.

And maybe, with more time and experience, I will realize that Morrigan is manipulating me and I really shouldn't kill Flemeth anyways.

Last year, I was on the bus on my way to work and the bus was crowded enough that I had to sit next to someone, so I picked the equally harmless younger girl. I had earbuds in and had been listening to "Suddenly I See" by K.T. Tunstall. She started talking to me, and I responded politely, most importantly by pulling out my earbuds.

Please keep in mind that this was a super awful morning for me. I forget why now.

Apparently, I had helped her in the computer lab about a month previous and thereby helped her ace an important class.

For the rest of that day, I felt like a goddess. Word and excel problems? No problem. Miraculously, our network stayed intact during finals. I could solve whatever came at me that day.

When I'm having a hard day, I still think about that day and all the nice things that young lady said.

Oh, you said today.
Whoops.
With the things that have been happening today that made me kind of grumpy, I've been needing the previously mentioned story as a reminder, so hopefully it's still appropriate.

Lilywing, your story reminded me of a few incidents I've had in my teaching career when former students showed up in my office to let me know my class helped them get a job. It's amazing how much it means to have just one person tell you that you helped him/her when he/she really needed it.
