Yay card exchange! I don't think I can participate this year, but I'm happy to organize it.

I was thinking about this too. In fact I wondered if there's a way to make it into a service project of some kind...like, could we as a community send cards out to people having troubles or something? That wouldn't have to be instead of our own exchange, it could be in addition...just thought I'd put the idea out there to see what people think.

I'm actually having trouble, though, finding programs that help you do this. Searching on seniors, veterans, needy...anyone know of one of these?

We never got cards out last year...the shame.

I like those ideas.

Here's another - send cards to soldiers recovering at Walter Reed (or other hospitals).

I'd like to find a few more such clearinghouses for cards for people who need them - seniors, kids maybe - to provide some variety.

My proposal might be pretty simple: As we do card exchange with each other this year, we each include one (two? three?) cards for someone we don't yet know through one of the charity projects, and keep a count as to how many we've collectively sent.

I love the card swap and I also like this idea of sending cards to people who need them very much.
