Lambchop is a band from Nashville that I like, a lot. If you've never heard of them, or if you have but haven't heard their music, here are some songs to get you started.[More:]

Their music is not-quite country, sort of loungy, very off-kilter. It reminds me of Sunday hangovers, rainy days, and (often) the 1970s, esp. when I used to ride in my granddad's car while he played the radio.

Lambchop's discography is pretty large (11 albums, plus some EPs and one-offs) and their music is so quiet, slow, and weird, that some folks find them a little daunting at first. So, here are a few of my favorites, that I hope you'll like.

I'm A Stranger Here
Paperback Bible
Gettysburg Address (possibly my favorite Lambchop song)
National Talk Like A Pirate Day
Magnificent Obsession
Your Fucking Sunny Day
Up With People
Beers Before The Barbican
Is A Woman (video)
The Butcher Boy
This Corrosion (Sisters of Mercy cover)

You can also just stream this whole set from here without downloading.
I just started listening, but so far I really like it. The vast majority of contemporary country's kind of a wasteland these days, IMO, so I'm always excited to find stuff like this.

If you like the old-sounding stuff, may I introduce you to Frank Fairfield, who I discovered through William Gibson on Twitter. Dude looks and sounds like he stepped out of the dustbowl in his Sunday go-to-meetin' clothes, and he is awesome.
