Photo Friday: The Birds and The Bees
Damn, don't know how the pigeon footprints got in there twice. But that's one of my favourite pictures, so I don't care.

Woo, been playing around with a new camera, and actually have some birds!

I can see my office in your first photo, Theo! And I expect that's one of the cormorants I see regularly on my lunchtime walks around the dock.

Love the seagull.

What camera is it?

Wow, you must have a good view Jan!

The camera's a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS. Pretty happy with it, chunky high-end compact, you can shove it in a coat pocket but it's still got a nice 12x optical zoom and plenty of manual options.

Wish I did. I'm on the 4th floor so I get a view of the DLR as it rumbles past. The rest of the view is obscured by Pan Peninsula.

I thought of two more! Not good pics, but funny.

I don't see the owl....

Owl? We always said that was a spider.
posted by ColdChef 06 November | 15:52
I heard (saw) spider too, but that's a beautiful bee and thistle.

aniola, towards the top right, there's a straight part that then curves down in a quarter-circle, and the owl is sitting in the curve.

Oop! Not quick enough! More owl pareidolia instructions: If you focus on two tiny white spots on either side of a dark beak, then interpret the lines leading away from the 'head' as partially unfolded wings, it looks owl-ish.

The white pigeon who used to watch us swim. He's from a flock of those "rollers" that flip/fall/roll.

I don't have bee photos, but here are some naughty flies.

I see it as an owl now! Makes a better owl than a spider.

Also, lovely pics, everybody!
