The Olympics are coming to South America Viva Rio! This is incredibly exciting stuff.

One of the best songs about Rio, Aquele abraço by Gilberto Gil. Gil wrote this song while he was in exile for offending the military government in place in 1969, after spending several months in jail (he was allowed to return home in 1972). The song is his homage to the Cidade Maravilhosa and the country he had left behind.

I am so proud of Brazil and especially Rio right now.
