Good lord, gomichild, are you *always* such an over achiever in the kitchen? That looks amazing!
Because it's a football night, we are eating burgers. Mine: medium with a fried egg, cheddar, sauteed onions and spicy mango chutney.
Steve's: medium with swiss cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms and hot chili sauce.
I was thinking about ramen or maybe a bowl of cereal. We just don't cook anymore. I sort of miss it but not enough to actually plan meals, buy the stuff and then actually bother to cook it. Must be a mid-life thing.
In part due to my stupid cold, which I think is stupid, I had some chicken soup. I also made a grilled cheese with 4 year old cheddar and pumpernickel bread. I really couldn't taste much of either! Stupid cold.
That is so awesome. I am a bit fearful of making my own sauces and such. I had homemade mac and cheese (made a day or two ago and I think it may be on the turn already, sadly), steamed broccoli with mozzerella on top, garlic parmesan chicken, and a perfect gala apple with caramel dip. Mmm.
I've been in a funk lately and haven't been cooking as much as I need to in order to not wind up eating ramen. (I like ramen, but I'm working on eating healthier and more veggies and such.)
After many days of rearranging mayhem and many meals of sandwiches or pizza, I finally had both the space and the energy to cook a proper dinner tonight. We had whole wheat penne with caramelized onions, broccoli, and navy beans, all tossed in a white wine sauce and finished with parmesan; a side of oven-roasted squash; slices of fresh-baked whole wheat focaccia. I had red wine, The Fella had beer.
For dessert, I have strawberries and he has a few cookies. Or I have strawberries and cookies, and he has beer.
when i got home, rather than cook the pork loin and mushrooms that i had planned, i decided that i was just too tired to cook . instead i had a wedge of canteloupe and a bowl of raisin bran . i think i might have made the right decision too , cuz it seemed to hit the spot . if i get hungry later, i can always make some popcorn
Picked the last of the basil from my garden - it's getting too bitter and tough to keep going - and made a batch of pesto. Tossed it with whole-wheat spaghetti and quartered cherry tomatoes. Delish. For dessert, last piece of apple pie with super-buttery crust.
I threw a chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, onion, green pepper, and beef broth into the crockpot and left it alone for 10 hours. The potatoes, onion and green pepper were from our own garden. It was deeeelicious.
Leftover pasta with homemade sauce from homegrown tomatoes. Tomorrow the dairy drops off milk, so I can make broccoli cheese soup and creamy potato soup. I'm more excited about the creamy soup portion of my week.
Chicken paprikash. I wish I could freeze it, because I made way too much a couple of days ago. But apparently sour cream separates when it thaws. Which would be gross.
I'm dieting like a mofo in readiness for my holiday. I bought a pack of 5 steaks the other day which normally would only last me two meals (they're pretty tiny steaks, about 4oz each uncooked) but I've been having one for each meal over the last few days, with veggies. Last night it was lettuce, tomatoes & sugar snaps (with my beloved ranch dressing, my one indulgence) and grilled courgette (zucchini), red pepper and asparagus.
Same thing again tonight with the final steak. Tomorrow I'll begin to use up the frozen Alaskan pollack in my tiny freezer.
Spag bol with meatballs, sausage, mozzarella and broccoli; strawberries for dessert. Serving dessert in martini glasses was trendy 20 years ago....human beings are not meant to eat out of funnels!
